Verizon Phone Activation?

i have 3 questions concerning a phone.

1) My friend is giving me his old verizon phone. He switched phone companies so hes not using it. Will i be able to activate his phone? or will it be locked because he cancelled the plan?

2) If i do get the phone, how do i step by step change from my current phone to the new phone? Something about esn or something%26gt;?Verizon Phone Activation?
You will be able to use his phone, and it's simple to activate it on your account.

Simply just call Verizon from another phone, and give them your account information, and you will have to give them the ESN code (which is locateed usually on the battery or back of the phone) and then program it using their steps. Or you could go online and sign on your account, and click activate a new phone.

Hope this helps!

ummm a while back someone answered my question about how i can use a different phone on verizon by getting a number from my battery and creating an account on verizon and changing the type of phone i have. trouble is,theres three sets of numbers on the back of the battery: HEX, DPQ, and S/N. which numbers am i supposed to use to switch phones?ive never done this before so any help would be greatly appreciated...ESN Exchange with verizon?
You would need to use the HEX number.

I suppose this is the question your refering to: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;

What do I have to do to my phone to sell it on ebay. There is an unpaid bill on the account, can I still sell?

My husband and I signed up for service with US Cellular about 9 months ago. We received the first two-three bills with no problems. The next bill came in and had charges for around $600-700 on it. (We were supposed to have free mobile to mobile and it charged us for that) We called customer service and they told us everything was correct, even though nothing was different from the previous months to make our bill change. We couldn't pay the bill all at once, and we asked what we could do. The service manager said that we had to or our service would be terminated. That was fine with us as we didn't want service with US Cellular any longer with bills like that, and we haven't received any bills from them since.

-Anyway, my question is: Now that we don't have service, I want to sell my Motorola V3c on ebay and I've been reading about the ESN and that it reports that there is an unpaid bill. How can I check this and is there any way to clear it. My phone does not have a sim cardWhat do I have to do to my phone to sell it on ebay. There is an unpaid bill on the account, can I still sell?
I know this is the case with Sprint, and it is probably the case with US Cellular. If there is an unpaid account balance attached to the ESN, the phone cannot be activated. I would not sell this phone on Ebay without confirming this with US Cellular.

People are giving you the wrong answers here. Let me be clear. I worked as a cell phone tech for years and I know the cell phone business. Most carriers won't let you activate a phone that is tied to an account that still owes a balance. This is why many Ebayers advertise their phones with the phrase %26quot;The ESN is free to be activated.%26quot; ESN's can be dummied out if they are either a.)reported stolen or b.) tied to a collection or past due account. What do I have to do to my phone to sell it on ebay. Sure you can sell it. Phone will be reprogrammed when the new owner gets service for it.What do I have to do to my phone to sell it on ebay. There is an unpaid bill on the account, can I still sell?
The new user will get their own subscription, so it won't matter what the status of yours is.

In your case you will need to make sure to mention that it is a US Cellular phone. Since US Cellular is not a major carrier, you will have a limited market.

Make sure you delete all personal info from the phone, like the phonebook or contacts list, etc.

PS: Mobile-to-mobile calling means only to other customers of the same company. In case you didn't know that. What do I have to do to my phone to sell it on ebay. There is an unpaid bill on the account, can I still sell?
it is legal to sell it however they will shut off the service and shortly after they will DEACTIVATE the phone. it is unique to your number and as a delinquent account holder they will deactivate the phone permanently

i would consider it unethical to sell on ebay

I found a website with decent quality cell phones but?

Working for one of the top Ev-DO networks, I want to know how i can place it on my network as our system is strategically set up to deny phones we did not manufacture or licence to manufacture. It has the band length GSM 1900 MHZ so it is technically compatible. But if I were to enter in the ESN into my System I garuntee it would be denied. How would I go about placing it on %26quot;The Network%26quot;

If it involves manually changing the ESN, I know it is illegal to change an ESN but for educational porposes would this be what needs to be done?? If so how for this device

i changed phone and carrier. now i want to sell my old phone. how do i know if the esn is clear? the phone is not reported stolen and there are no charges on my account. i just paid my last bill for this phone and carrier. thank youHow do i know if my esn is clear?
You call customer service and read them the ESN. They'll tell you if it's clean.

How can i deactivate my stolen cell phone thru it's ESN number?

Had a nokia 5610 cell (t-mobile) that was stolen. it's ESN number is 359303020342403. I'm pretty sure who ever stole it will most likely change the sim card. does anyone know how i can deactivate it via the ESN number? I have heard that this CAN be done, and that not every customer service rep you speak to will even know about this.

I am pissed off that my cell phone's stolen. I am even more pissed that someone can actually get away with this! please help...How can i deactivate my stolen cell phone thru it%26039;s ESN number?
Just drop t-mobile a call and they will gladly advise you on such matter. If the customer service can't help you, do ask them to suggest a personal of higher authority you can contact or simple transfer the call to. They may probably refer you to the vendor/manufacturer aka nokia.

Following is an article on ESN, personally i do not think that we can disable it on user's end.How can i deactivate my stolen cell phone thru it%26039;s ESN number?
Because it was stolen, the criminals might be using it to conduct criminal business, you absolutely must get a police report in.

You have to report the theft to t-mobile to halt all charges.

I'm sure you have done this by now.

Report the phone and its ESN as stolen to the police for a police report and to the t-mobile cellular carrier, the carrier should report that ESN nationwide so all cell services in the US recognize it, and if it is used in the US, it can be traced. With no legitimate account, the cell network should refuse to complete calls.

But whoever stole it might ship it out of country to Mexico or Europe or Asia ... the international use of cell phones might mean the ESN will be recognized outside the US and unless your account with that phone is closed, it will get hit with charges. Outside the US the cell might be permitted to begin a call until the network operators find out the phone was stolen and they flag the ESN as not allowable.

.How can i deactivate my stolen cell phone thru it%26039;s ESN number?
Get rid of it and get a phone from a reputable provider. It is not

worth it to screw around with stolen merchandise. Consider this

an expensive lesson learned. Good Luck.

MikeHow can i deactivate my stolen cell phone thru it%26039;s ESN number?
Just notify T-Mobile that you lost it. They will brick it for you.

In the unlikely event that you find it or get it back, just toss it. Once bricked it cannot be unbricked, even by T-Mobile.
