HOW CAN I GET A DIFFERENT ESN NUMBEr??

I purchased a phone from my next door neighbor. Its a Sprint brand new model. She didn't activate the phones because her husband was being assigned to Japan. So in need of a new phone I purchased the phone. I called to do an ESN swap, but the lady from Sprint told me the ESN number to the phone was reported as fraudulent. How can I get them to activate the phone, swap it, or change the ESN number??

PLEASE HELP!!HOW CAN I GET A DIFFERENT ESN NUMBEr??
ESN stands for Electronic Serial Number. You cannot change an ESN within a phone. It is the eletronic %26quot;fingerprint%26quot; of the phone and cannot be removed, changed or tampered with, or the phone will not work. It is similar to the VIN on a car - it stays with the phone for the life of the phone.

There are a couple of situations where an ESN will be placed on a fraud list: the phone is reported stolen from the point of sale, the phone is reported lost or stolen by the rightful owner, or the ESN is picked up by the cell carriers Fraud Detection department as being used inappropriately to make calls for free.

You need to ask your neighbor where she got the phone and if she or her husband ever called to suspend the service on the phone. The ESN could be unblocked by your carrier if you can prove the phone was NOT stolen or reported lost then replaced fraudulently using the phone insurance.

A change of phone number will not help in this instance, either, because the block is for the phone, not the phone number.

It's unlikely that you are going to be able to activate this phone. It's also very unlikely they will exchange the phone since you did not purchase it at an authorized dealer. Phone exchanges cost cell carriers lots of money, so if by some remote chance you get them to agree to it, be prepared to extend your contract by at least 2 years as they try to recoup the cost of the phone they are sending you.
